September 23rd marked the opening day of Maine Optometry’s brand-new medical facility. The organization’s two-story, 12,000 square foot professional medical office building is located at 14 Vista Drive, Gorham. The new building replaces Maine Optometry’s Gorham office located at 347 Main Street.
Designed by Dirigo Architectural Engineering of Turner and managed by Zachau Construction of Freeport, the project has been in progress since October 2018.
Maine Optometry occupies 4,000 square feet of space on the first floor of the building. Elevate PT, a physical therapy practice, is on the lower level, and the second floor is the home of Vista Suites and offers professional office space—with exceptional views—for rent.
A multi-site medical optometry practice, Maine Optometry has been serving the Gorham community for more than 20 years at its location on 347 Main Street. Gorham patients began seeing their providers at the new location on September 23rd. Of Maine Optometry’s eight locations throughout the state, Gorham is the only one to move for expansion.
Leading the project is Maine Optometry COO, Jon Provost. “As Gorham has grown, our practice has grown along with it. This growth created a need for us to build a larger, vibrant, more efficient space. We think our patients will love it, and we’re excited to share it with them!” Provost says.
Two fulltime medical optometrists are now serving Gorham patients with three additional ODs joining them to provide extended service and hours. Dr. Andre Achenbach and Dr. Alan Mathieu continue to practice in Gorham alongside Drs. Abigail Delahanty, Stephen Arsenault, and Victoria Gagnon.
The current Gorham staff accompanied the optometrists into the new facility with the same commitment to patient care. Expanding Maine Optometry’s medical office allows for two doctors to be on-site full-time during business hours Monday-Friday and provides for evening and Saturday appointments.
