Dr. Lyn Benton, formerly Desjardins, is a native Mainer. She grew up in Livermore and went on to attend Saint Joseph’s College, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry graduating Cum Laude.

For her graduate studies, Dr. Benton attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Her clinical rotations included; VA Boston, Perkins School for the Blind, the New England Medical Center— now called Tufts Medical Center, and the Beetham Eye Institute at Joslin Diabetes Center. Dr. Benton is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry.

Since 2004, she has been in clinical practice with experience treating dry eye, foreign body removal, conjunctivitis, contact lens fitting and the treatment of management of ocular disease. She co-manages glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataract surgery with local ophthalmologists.

When not working she likes reading, trivia and roller skating. Dr. Benton and her husband enjoy cycling, traveling and skiing together.
