Dr. Rachel Achenbach is originally from Auburn, ME, where she graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School in 2005. She graduated from the University of New England in Biddeford, ME, with a degree in Biological Sciences in 2009 and received her doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2013.

While in school, Dr. Achenbach held the position of the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) trustee for her school and was awarded the AOSA Merrit Award. Dr. Achenbach’s internship at the Manchester VA Medical Center provided her with extensive training in treating ocular disease such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. At The Vision and Learning Center at Family Eyecare Associates in Fair Lawn, NJ, she gained experience in pediatric eye care, developmental optometry, and vision therapy. During a primary care internship at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Achenbach became proficient in the fitting of specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Achenbach is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Maine Optometric Association.

Dr. Achenbach is currently working in our Windham office.
