Dr. Varagic is a familiar face around Portland and at Maine Optometry. Dr. Varagic was born in a small farming village in Serbia, however grew up in Portland and attended Deering High School. He went on to graduate from Saint Joseph’s College with a B.S. in Biology. During his time at Saint Joseph’s he studied clinical optometry under Dr. Todd Hamilton, to whom he credits for his interest in the field. His post graduate education lead him to Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There he graduated Beta Sigma Kappa with a Doctorate in Optometry and a Bachelors in Vision Science. He continued his training at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia where he learned to manage post surgical LASIK, Cataract, and Glaucoma procedures.

Dr. Varagic is a member of both the American Optometric Association and Maine Optometric Association. Dr. Varagic is now specializing in pediatrics, contact lenses, and the treatment & management of diseases of the eye. He is welcoming both new and existing patients in our Lewiston and Gorham offices.

In his spare time you can find Dr. Varagic at the beach or one of Portland’s many restaurants. He enjoys fishing, traveling, and boating
