Dr. Moheera Athar, O.D., is a dedicated optometrist at Maine Optometry. With a friendly smile and a knack for making complex eye health simple to understand, Dr. Athar helps her patients feel comfortable and confident in managing their vision.
Dr. Athar’s Experience
Dr. Athar earned her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago, and then received her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. Her academic interests are reinforced with practical experience; she actively engages in multiple practice settings, ranging from hospital-based care to community health clinics and private practices.
Following optometry school, Dr. Athar completed an advanced residency in ocular disease at the Illinois College of Optometry. During this residency, she specialized in managing complex ocular conditions, such as glaucoma and retinal diseases. She also took on the role of a clinical preceptor, sharing her skills with future optometrists — teaching and inspiring the next generation of eye care professionals.
