Dr. Andre Achenbach was born in Pennsylvania, however, grew up in a small fishing village near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is bilingual in both French and English.
In 2008, Dr. Achenbach received his Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2012, Dr. Achenbach received his Doctorate of Optometry at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. and graduated 1st in his optometric class with Clinical Excellence in both contact lenses and pediatrics.
Dr. Achenbach completed his disease training rotations at Chickasaw Indian Health Corporation, Oklahoma and Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation, Alaska. He did a pediatric speciality rotation at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia and a contact lens rotation at Broward Eyecare, Florida.
Dr. Achenbach began his career as an associate of Maine Optometry in 2012 and in 2015 joined as a partner.
Dr. Achenbach is a member of both the American Optometric Association and Maine Optometric Association. He currently serves on the Maine Optometric Association Board as a past President.
Dr. Achenbach is now specializing in pediatrics, contact lenses, and the treatment & management of diseases of the eye. He is welcoming both new and existing patients in our Lewiston and Gorham offices.
